BRANFORD MARSALIS / JOEY CALDERAZZO "Songs of Mirth and Melancholy"
For this cover, I wanted to emphasize both the sense of openness and space in the music, but
also the competing notion(s) of familiarity and intimacy between the two musicians. The stunning, wide-open visual backdrop was provided by the new Art of the Americas wing at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the body language between the two musicians illustrated that other "thing"
I was looking for.
THE HAWTHORNE Branding / Customer Collateral
After designing the logo, based upon a bartender's tool, this high-end lounge also brought me
onboard to design menus, coasters, check envelopes and other collateral. The menu needed
to be accessible inside to accommodate constantly changing cocktails, which we accomplished
with "Chicage screws" and partially printed blank pages that were scored and punched.
DELOITTE "Reinventing Banking Series" Multimedia Sales Tool
Working with Deloitte, I provided design, production and printing, and project management for this multimedia sales tool that featured podcasts, webcasts and illustrative PDFs for client interface.
ALISON KRAUSS Advertising, Point-of-Purchase and Collateral
Although the album cover artwork featured a more subdued photo of Alison, I selected this
stunningly beautiful shot for promotional and advertising purposes and incorporated the overall
design and typography from the commercial product.
ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS "Raising Sand"
As if working with Robert, Alison and photographer Pamela Springsteen wasn't gratifying enough, this project, which I art directed, dominated the 2009 Grammy Awards. The platinum-selling album won all of its five nominations including "Record of the Year."
BRANFORD MARSALIS QUARTET "Four MFs Playin' Tunes"
For this cover, we wanted to accentuate the critical role each musician plays in a group context.
We chose to do this by not only focusing on a musician, but also keeping the rest of the quartet
in constant motion behind them. The layout of the booklet allows each player take center stage
and "become" the cover depending on how the booklet is folded.
ANNE McCUE "Live In Nashville" Deluxe DVD
Anne wanted to create a custom package for her fans, so I came up with a DIY, two-tiered solution. The Deluxe version included a unique, autographed Polaroid, as well as the poster, booklet and DVD from the standard set. This approach meant that inventory and parts could be created at will for each version, with no waste or redundancy.
